An English language lab that measures progress in internationally recognised levels.

Skillern designs, equips and runs English language labs aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Students are placed by level, taught through a structured curriculum and assessed against CEFR descriptors, so progress from A1 to B2 and beyond is visible to students, parents and management.

Why CEFR

A common scale that employers, universities and parents understand.

'Good English' means different things to different people. CEFR replaces vague judgements with six defined levels, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (mastery), each described in terms of what a learner can actually do in listening, reading, speaking and writing. A CEFR-aligned lab lets your institution set level targets for each year group, place students accurately, and report measurable progress.
